Welcome to the Horse barn at Skamania County Fair & Timber Carnival! Our Horse Barn at the Fair is for 4-Hers, and we’re glad you're joining us. Our horse program is a cornerstone of the fair, giving young people hands-on experience in animal husbandry while sharing agricultural traditions with our community. What You'll Need to Do

Showing horses at the fair is more than just stepping into the ring.

Here's what's expected:

  • Show each animal in performance or gaming classes (or both!)
  • Participate in showmanship for each horse you're exhibiting
  • Complete an equine record for each animal
  • Create a poster to display
  • Complete horse judging
  • Pitch in for herdsmanship within each club, you will be keeping the barns clean and animals comfortable, which is a team effort each day!

Classes & Competitions

Showmanship: Divided by age groups – this is where your handling skills shine.

Performance Classes: Sorted by age groups and many different disciplines. This is where you can show off the skills you have learned and perfected over the last year.

Gaming Classes: Sorted by age groups - this is where you can show off your precision and speed in 6 different speed events.
