State Fair

Skamania County Youth that meet the criteria at the county level, qualify to compete at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup!
In order to attend the Washington State 4-H Fair, the exhibitor needs to be an active and enrolled 4-H member, and have qualified at the Skamania County Fair in the same project area.

Each county is provided an allocation for animal projects at State Fair, and so County Fair placement is used to determine who is eligible and in what order. Exhibitors must compete at State Fair with the same animal they qualified with at County Fair.

If a 4-H member qualifies at County Fair and is interested in attending State Fair, they are asked to register on the Sunday after fair prior to haul out. The 4-H office helps register exhibitors and potential alternates in the Fair Entry system, and provides information and wrist bands for entry at the State Fair.

Entries from the Exhibit Hall that receive a blue ribbon can be sent to State Fair. Exhibitors need to go through the same registration process as Animal Exhibitors in Fair Entry, and will need to include an index card with required information from the Exhibitor Guide to assist with judging. Entries are sent to Puyallup with a volunteer, and are guaranteed to be judged but are not guaranteed to be displayed. After the State Fair concludes, families will need to make arrangements with the 4-H office to pick up their entries within a reasonable time frame.
