Open Horse Show

Save the date: August 1 & 2, 2026

Saddle up for a great time! Each year, the weekend before the Skamania County Fair kicks off, our fair and 4-H volunteers put on two open horse shows at the fairgrounds arena. Whether you're there to compete or just to watch some beautiful horses and skilled riders, you're in for a treat. Both shows are open to the community, and riders of all experience levels are welcome.

Open Performance Show — Saturday, August 1

Registration opens at 8:00 AM | Show starts at 9:00 AM

The Performance Show features 37 classes spanning halter, showmanship, English and Western equitation and pleasure, bareback, and the crowd-favorite Ride a Buck. Classes are divided by age group, so riders from lead line little ones all the way through 19 and over have a place to shine. Hi-point and Reserve awards are presented, with ribbons going to 6th place in each age group.

In 2025, entry fees were $10.00 per class or $50.00 for all-day entry. Limited stalls were available for $10.00/day. Check back for current year pricing.

Good to Know for Both Shows

Boots are required for all riders. No riding is permitted on the fairgrounds outside of the arena. Riders under 18 must wear an approved helmet (ASTM-certified). The Performance Show does not allow training devices or hackamores. Payment may be made by check (payable to Skamania County Fair Board) or by credit card on the daythe of event.

Sunday brings the speed and fun of gaming classes — think Key Pole, Figure 8, Pole Bending, Two-Barrel Flag, International Flag, and Texas Barrels.
