All entries entered into the Skamania Co. Fair are awarded premiums. These funds are allocated by the Board and come from the Department of Agriculture Grant as well as Private donations.
Premiums for All Entries:
Blue Ribbon - 5 points | Red Ribbon - 3 points | White Ribbon - 1 point
The value of each premium point will be determined annually based on the number of exhibitors, entries, and the budget set for awards by the Fair Board.
All checks for premiums awarded and not cashed within 90 days of issuance will be considered a donation to the fair board. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to contact the fair board if a premium check is not received or contains an error no later than December 1st. Contact: info@skamaniafair.com
Danish Judging System:
The Skamania County Fair uses the Danish system of judging, which evaluates each entry against established standards rather than comparing exhibitors against each other. This approach recognizes that fair is about learning and growth, not just competition.
Under this system:
- Blue ribbons recognize high-quality work that meets or exceeds the standard for that category
- Red ribbons indicate that most standards have been met with solid workmanship
- White ribbons acknowledge that fundamental standards have been met, with room for continued skill development
Every ribbon represents real accomplishment and the effort you've invested in your project. Our judges provide constructive feedback to help all exhibitors continue improving their skills, whether you're entering for the first time or returning with years of experience.
